In my role, I assisted in leading day-to-day bookstore operations, including training student employees in customer relations and sales. I was responsible for ordering materials for various programs, departments, and clubs, as well as preparing course-related materials for sale and distribution. I supervised student employees, managed incoming and outgoing mail, and provided customer service to bookstore patrons. Additionally, I contributed to the bookstore website design and created designs for clothing sold in the bookstore, ensuring a cohesive and appealing merchandise selection.
Portfolio Show Invite
Each person in our class got to create an invite design for our end-of-year Portfolio Show. We then got to vote on our favorite. After two rounds of voting my design won. I got to create the design and be a part of ordering the invites. The design is a little more intricate than the pictures show, it is a soft touch paper with a spot gloss on the black design in the background.
Student Club Banners
These student club banners were requested to replace some old banners that were pretty outdated. This was one of the first projects I got to work on despite them being printed and hung up 6 months after I created the design. There are 18 banners hanging in Charley’s at Southwest Tech.
Clothing Designs
I created the first three designs while working as a Graphic Design Intern in the marketing department at Southwest Tech. They are being sold in the bookstore. While working in marketing I also got the opportunity to create a t-shirt design for the PAS club for their PAS spring conference. This was a cool experience because the students in the club got to critique the design and gave me feedback. The last shirt was created in my first-year Illustrator class. We had a vote on which t-shirts would be sold in the bookstore and my design was one of the winners.
After Effects Videos
These videos were created in a multimedia course where learned how to use Adobe After Effects. The graphics in both videos were created in Illustrator and animated in After Effects.
When I created the Preview Guide cover, I wanted to make something that was creative and inviting. The Preview Guide is one of the first things that incoming or interested students see, so I included different icons that represent a variety of careers that Southwest Tech has to offer. These were printed Fall of 2023 and will continue to be distributed until the Fall of 2024.
SWTC Café Marketing
For the Café marketing I was able to work on a variety of projects including: helping create their logo, redesigning their website, creating art for their menu board and writing specials every week, creating designs for the napkin holders every month, designing monitor graphics and flyers for weekly specials, and more!
Scholarship Booklet
The Scholarship booklet was one of the first big projects I got to work on that helped me gain experience in multiple Adobe applications. I created the cover in Illustrator and input around 50 pages of scholarships and recipients in InDesign. It was a lot of repetition and proofreading that helped me realize how important double-checking work can be. These were printed and distributed in November of 2023.
Outdoor Skills Day Marketing
For this project, I got some experience in resizing designs. From this poster design, I created monitor graphics, digital sign graphics, newspaper ads, and social media posts. I created multiple designs for this poster and a group that sponsored the event picked their favorite, I experimented a lot with this design and eventually landed on this final design. I received a lot of feedback from the sponsored group on what they would like to see and it was fun to get to work with them.
